Not a Flower Wasted...

Just a short word today...

tried a cream field of flowers.
i think it worked a treat.
check out the other side...

I cut up an old sheet from vinnies, in pale blue..
(it covered 3 cushions for $1.50)

my field of flowers cushion has 3 buttons on one side
so that i can wash its woolly wonder.
i cleaned up the window seat in my bedroom
just for this photographic occasion.
i think i will keep it this way.... forever if poss.

Tomorrow i have other goodies..
til then...see ya.

Aprons and Afghans

I could hardly sleep a wink
as i couldn't believe i had taken this big step
after thinking about it for weeks
and secretly admiring all the others out there
who were expertly managing their blogs...
not knowing whether i could too

i thought that i should acknowledge
the creators of the apron pattern...

these are all Simplicity 4282 view F.

this is another view of the one
i have sewn for Miss B for christmas
(a pat on the back for being so darn organised
...amazing)

i got lost in all that wonderfully pink, pinkness
and loved sewing it, dreaming of eiffel towers
and so much frenchness and prettiness...

but my first attempt at this episode of creativity
was not aprons but afghans
thanks to Michelle at Loving the Vintage
and her granny square tutorial...

i thought i would learn  how to crochet a square
then another and another,
i cannot, it seems, do things by ones.
so i had to use up all the ball of wool
and then get others and use them too...

before i knew it i was crocheting a whole blanket.

it is winging its way from oz to nz as we speak
on a secret engagement to become my wonderful dad's
80th birthday present  in november.

i know it is only nearly september..
i haven't gone crazy but
where i live the moths would have a little nibble
if i didn't send it soon.

my mum and sister in the land of the long white cloud
will ooh and ah over this field of flowers
and then wrap it up with lovely paper
and deliver it safely with love in november for me.

Tomorrow i will show you what i did
with all those leftover flowers...
i just couldn't waste them.

so til tomorrow then Good night

Well...here goes...I'm jumping in....apron tales and all...

this is my very first post
i have a lot to learn
i want to tell you a little about me
my life and the stuff that i make

i have recently discovered blogs
afghans, crocheting, rugs and cushions
then i thought
i can sew as well

my sewing maching was living away from home
it was virtually adopted by my daughter
i sent out an sos and it found its way home

equipped with a few lengths of fabric
i thought i'd make an apron
well my machine and i have got to know each other better
though i cannot say i am a master

i have now made not only one apron but many
in fact i don't know when i will cease to make them
i started with a sunny yellow one
enjoying that i have made one yellow and blue
(reminding me of an aussie summer day)

then i made one out of an old touristy tea towel
with a map of england on it
lined with red polka dots and bordered with lady beetles.

Another one appeared
more red polka dots, green squares and ripe cherries
and finally pale pink polka dots,
eiffel towers and matching ric rac braid.

one more for the road...i'll just squeeze in a pic of the cherries

it's a bit hard to see but it says
'recipe for friendship' a moda fabric

well that's all for now...
i'll see you tomorrow.
