Show & Tell...

good morning!

at last i've taken the photos of my completed market bag
&
can't wait to take it to market
when i just have a few things to pick up...
mostly lately though
i've had more than a market bag full to get..

though of course i could make a few more.

of course i made it a bit harder than it should have been
by choosing fabric that was just a bit shorter than the pattern wanted
so everything was shortened by an inch...

the pockets are also a bit shorter 'cos i didn't have quite enough  for them either...

and the front gusset had to be joined 'cos there wasn't quite enough there...hehe!

it's amazing that i didn't muck up the calculations
&
it actually fitted together.

i would change the gusset width though
'cos it's a bit wide for my liking
&
that would make the bag longer as well.

sew & learn eh?

i'd better go and feed the dogs
before they start
nagging!

wishing you sunshine in your day today...

naturally Carol xox

  3. It's really lovely! I love the handprinted look of the pockets too. So much nicer than the green bags. I keep meaning to replace mine with a handmade stash, but it's one of those things that I just don't seem to get to..

  4. Thanks for visitng my blog and leaving a comment :).
Love the fabrics you've made this bag from. All the topstitching will help it keep it's shape and you'll have it for years, unlike 'green' bags. I have some single thickness handmade shopping bags, without pockets, but a tote bag style one, like yours, is on the to do list. I just need the right fabrics....maybe with cobwebs?!

  8. It's gorgeous Carol! You clever thing. I like the way it has a big proper "bottom" instead of just two rectangles sewn together. Love the comment about the dogs too. I can totally relate - if it's not one of the kids it's the Whippet nagging :-)
