Baby Shower...

 

with the baby!

 

 

hi...

this morning some friends and i

held a baby shower.

 

 

 

 

zoe was expecting a girl,

but lo and behold a boy was delivered

exactly two weeks ago.

 

i had made pink invitations

&

had them in my handbag ready to deliver

when a little boy was thrust into my arms.

 

here he is sleeping snugly this morning,

at his own welcome party with a friend.

 

 

last friday

we made some bunting...

 

 



 

which we strung along the rails of the deck at the cafe.

 

easy bunting it is.

coloured paper stapled on to curling ribbon

taped with washi tape onto the railings.

 

we blew up the balloons...

 

 

ordered cappucinos and cake

&

played party games...like baby bingo, baby memory,

name the parents and name the baby.

 

 

i can't wait to help host another one

it was so much fun!

 

i'm hoping you're all having fun this wednesday too...

Grateful for...

a rare occasion...

{these hibiscus flowers were photographed this afternoon in our front yard}

mr w is home for the weekend...

and all the other regular occupants

{besides me}

are not!

we are home alone!!!!!

{except for three dogs..but they're not saying a thing.}

Cushions for Theodore!

afternoon all!

i  have great news...so exciting!!

on the weekend

a lovely lady from the town of theodore in central queensland...

a few hundred kms from gladstone...

{where my husband works}

had been contacted by an acquaintance from my town.

she emailed me

then

i emailed her

then she rang me...

and we organised for 15 cushions

to be sent to some flood affected cotton growers!

...and one four year old girl,

who lost all her toys in the flood...

one of the flood affected properties near theodore, queensland.

so this morning

i spent some lovely hours

choosing cushions to match the tastes of the women...

writing little notes

and ironing, folding and packing cushion covers.

{the little girl is getting the pink one with pooh and piglet on it

that the spangler made from 'the quick unpick'}

the lovely lady i met on the phone

is going to get the inserts from spotlight

before they are given to the others.

she really liked my 'little rainforest' cushions...

so they're for her.

she didn't have any electricity for 32 days!

can you imagine it?

no washing machine, no fans in the heat, no fridge!

etc..etc...

in central queensland heat and flood.

this is the town of theodore during the floods...

i posted the covers this afternoon...

including a few i just got this morning!

that was perfect timing from australia post and my friend gwen...

i'll show you gwen's cushions tomorrow.

I'm Grateful for Fake Flamingoes!

i'm grateful

for fun stuff today!

grateful that...

in this society people can be creative

and make fun stuff

grateful that...

we have enough to eat

so we have enough cash to buy fun stuff

grateful for...

a sense of humour

so i can laugh at fake flamingoes and myself for owning them!

{something i could never have imagined when i was a teenager}

grateful for...

an american from florida

who made the first fake flamingo from this mold in the fifties,

when lots of good things and people were being made!

{even me!}

grateful for...

miss b who shares my sense of humour

and gave me her collection as she is going away...

i am also grateful for fun stuff like

snow globes

battery powered toys

gadgets and gizmos

Christmas lights

whirlygigs and windmills on sticks!

have fun today at maxabella loves !

Purple Rain...

what happens if i persevere

wearing these new glasses.

i was so excited

last tuesday,

when i was at a local school,

that they were involved

with this...

samaritan's purse.

this organisation

helps kids that won't get anything for Christmas.

you get the box,

choose to give to a boy or a girl,

and then choose the age group of the child.

i chose a 5 - 9 year old girl.

then you fill the box with goodies,

something to wear,

something to do,

something to play with,

something for school...

i also put in a skipping rope and a yoyo

and other bits and pieces,

then i made an apron...

while i was sewing,

i was thinking of the little girl

who is going to wear it.

what country will it go to?

 i wonder,

what will she cook?

will she help her mum in it?

feeling warm inside knowing

that someone took some time

to make this especially for her.

will her eyes light up

when she sees all these little goodies?

will she lay them out over and over

just thinking that they are for her?

i think i would if i were that girl.

but even if she doesn't,

i have had the best fun...

picking out girlie things,

thinking and praying for her

and making the little apron.

isn't that the fun of christmas giving?

keep on lovin' this weekend...'til monday, God willing...

A Delightful Day...

oh, what a beautiful morning,

oh, what a beautiful day,

i've got a beautiful feeling,

everything's going my way!

i can almost hear doris day warbling away...hehehe!

well, it is one of those georgeous fresh mornings

here in south east queensland,

and i am getting new glasses today.

they've been lay-by'd for many a month

while my eye's have been getting confused

and befuddled when looking at words at different distances

as i have squinted and tried

to outwit my changing vision in order to sew or read.

so happily,

by the end of today

pictures will be clear and words

crisply defined....yay!!!

look good enough to eat!

she's sweet, that's for sure!

today,chocolate and strawberries, the food of love,

tomorrow...

we're jazzing it up a little

and dancing the night away...well, kind of!
