Cherry Cherry!

hi to you, this cool queensland afternoon...
with stormy clouds hovering and the ground wet still from the night rain!

after making jeni's little drawstring bag last week,
i really wanted to make another one
'cos they're just so cute,
easy to make
&
useful.

i have made a layered frilly apron out of this fabric
and found some leftovers
so thought a bag would be just the thing...

this time i made the drawstrings out of fabric
as per the pattern
&
thought a lining of red and white polka dots
would look the bees knees...

thanks jeni!

the link above will take you to jeni's lined drawstring bag tutorial...
&
while you're there check out her other makes,
she is phenomenal.

i'm joining up with 'ourcreativespaces' today too...
thanks kootoyoo.

see you 'round...like a red rubber ball..hehe!

p.s...did you know that the 2012 colour of the year is about this colour?

The Princess Pillow!

i hope you're enjoying this friday...
i am,
i've had a quiet morning just mucking around at home
and
making cushions.

i had fun with this series
that vanessa kindly gave me fabric for.
i've matched her bright fat quarters
with various spots and dots
that i've had in my stash box!

this one was just made for princesses....

this is 'princess pencil'!
she came with my 'pink parcel'..from melody.

princess pencil is the ideal princess for a school cushion..hehe!

the princess pillow poses with princess pencil on the pink blanket!

princess pencil poses with pink polka dots on the pink blanket..haha!

they are about to be deposed by the 'bright 'n' stripey' twins...

vanessa from "flower photography" sent all of this amazingly vibrant fabric...
pop in and say 'hello' this afternoon...
she's producing some great photography,
much better than these pics!

they were fun to make...
do you like making stuff for kids?

cushion no's 22, 21 and 20 are done!
{19 to go for the nanango prep and kinder kids}

have a great weekend and i'll see you tomorrow
{God willing}
to share a bit of gratitude with maxabella...
now i'd better go and find a link for 'flower photography'!

p.s...eight cushion covers and three georgeous packs of facewashers and handtowels done up with pretty soaps {made by my lovely friend marie} will be posted this afternoon to jenny at theodore!

Crazy for Dots & Stripes!

g'day!

we've had a bit of everything weatherwise this morning..
sunshine and rain
heat and humidity
cool breezes and stillness!

i saw these outside my bedroom window this morning
and just had to show you...

don't they look a picture?

i made two 'crazy for dots & stripes' cushions on the weekend,
one on saturday and one on sunday.
i am going to show them to you interspersed with more photos
of my beautiful pink crepe myrtle...

both displayed 'on the black couch'...

the embroidered tag..plus a few odd threads...on the front of  'mr big stripes'...

the back of 'mr big stripes'

fresh after morning rain...

the front of 'miss crazy for stripes'

the back of 'miss crazy for stripes'...
i had to insert a panel of spots...'cos i didn't have quite enough fabric!

a spray of flowers in the sunshine!

spots and stripes tag on the front of the little cushion...
check out the ladybird on the table!

now i had a bit of fun with this photo,
it wasn't quite in focus...so i chrystallised it!

a little chrystal effect...
i couldn't resist the colours...that deep pink contrasts with the pale blue...
like wallpaper really!

if you want to enter my apron giveaway
go back to yesterday's post and leave a comment to choose the prize you would prefer.
one entry for each comment
and
an extra entry for my 'friends' {followers}!

Spots and Daisies...

i wanted to sew something blue today.
so this is the cushion i came up with
pictures taken on the black couch...

this can either be the be the back or the front...

interchangeable.

the other side.

i have run out of black grosgrain ribbon for my tags...
so it is sadly tagless : (
the little shop in town has not reopened
since the floods...
i hope it does next week.

my fourth successful buttonholing experience!

can naturally carol sew a button hole or two?
no worries mate!

selvedges...
just love the little birds in a row!

just had to put these three little birds
on the other side...

my happy little cushion collection!

the thought of these
and many more
making a little couch or two
a sunnier
cosier
place to be
kept me sewing this week.

i'm not the fastest cushion maker
or the best...
but that doesn't matter at all...

i just want to do my bit
for fellow aussies
who are doing it tough...

join me if you want to.
leave a comment or an email...
and check out last mondays post

Mirabella and the Scented Garden...

morning to all!
don't you just rejoice
in the verse that says that
'His mercies are new every morning'

this morning is fresh and bright
rainwashed and clean!

just thought i'd show you the apron
i made for terri's mum...

she requested this combination of fabrics...
a favourite of mine too.

it is practically the same as the one i did for sharrie's mum
fortunately i had bought double the amount of fabric
that i normally buy!

this {and the norfolk blue apron} will be winging their way to new zealand
early next week,
in plenty of time for Christmas!
what an exciting new life...

this is some real garden colour...i kind of stole a little shot this morning,
looking over my neighbours fence...sshh! please don't tell!

now for a bit of girlie pink and blue goodness...
miss 'mirabella' apron
a soft sweet pastel looker!

tizzied up with pale blue buttons...

this one didn't know it
when i finished her
but this morning
it was decided that she would go and live with
miz leanne!
she will love it there and
help her protect her glamourpuss clothes when
Christmas day rolls around!

i am thinking next year
of opening a little 'made it' shop
but i am very hesitant
to make the commitment,
'cos it's kind of a scarey idea!

so don't hold me to it!

well, mr procrastinator came by yesterday
and delayed me from writing my cards...
{i got other tasks crossed off my list instead, of course!}
so will have another go...
and shoo him away if he comes by today, firmly...
'cos it seems he sticks around
if not shown the door firmly enough!

i hope he doesn't come by your place either today...
if he does, remember to be firm!
{enlisting the help of miss no-nonsense self control...sometimes works too}
all the best...

ps...my thanks go to miss chair again for a wonderfully wooden pose again this morning!

A Lemon Creative Space...

take one length of lemon yellow polka dots
or is that sunshine yellow
or maybe daffodil yellow...

a little embroidered tag

a few buttons, selvedge and ric rac,
a loopity loop for a tea towel...

the front panel is fabric "botany" seeds
and the hem is polka dotted bias.
a recent tutorial refreshed my skill on this particular subject
so putting my newly refurbished skill to good use...
i thought 'why not?'
and did my best for this little yellow apron!

miss chair
did a good job of modelling again today,
just a wee bit wooden in her poses though.

but beggars can't be choosers
as they say...
so i had to put up with what ever help i could get!
this side view was a winner though
and showed off miss lemon's skirt with flair...

and her back side
wasn't too shabby either!

i must apologise for the photographer though,
her grasp of lighting issues
is deplorable!

the housekeeper hasn't been in either!

on another note -

it's remembrance day today,
so let's remember
those that lost their freedom
so that we could have ours.

thanking you with all my heart today...

sincerely

Pink Flower Sugar, Pretty Please!

i can just imagine
afternoon tea
served out under a summer tree,

with pink iced fairy cakes
on a patterned plate...

pink and white marshmallows
tumbled into a chrystal bowl...

 sparkling white sugar cubes
gently lifted with shining silver tongs,
plopping gently into caramel coloured tea...

emerald green grass
studded with small yellow centred daisies,
fluffy white clouds
drifting across a blue blue sky...

a pink flower sugar apron
freshly ironed,
showing off it's pretty polka dotted pinkness...

miss chair
will have to do...
as alas, there are no suitable models available
since sharrie left last week.

have a pretty fantastic wednesday...

To Canada With Love...

miss b's sweetheart is canadian.
she requested an apron for his mum.
i don't know whether this fits the bill
or not...

if it doesn't
i'll have another go!

aren't the cherries, ric rac and red and white polka dots
a cheerful combination?...
and very christmassy too!

it's a jungle out there...honestly...hehehe!

'if'....a multitude of possibilities...lovin' life.

this won't take much packin',
so we'll have to put our aussie thinkin' caps on...
maybe put a kangaroo in the pocket!
that'd make a hoppin' good chrissy present,
wouldn't it surprise those canadians?  hehehe...

i think there's a mischevious thought or two
goin'  'round in my head!

if she doesn't like this one...
i have a little pink one in mind.
{i'll show you later!}

so miss b has plans,
to leave us.
time for her
to spread her wings...
{not literally, though she's pretty angelic....i think she'll be taking a 'plane!}

enough of such kookiness...
why not have a sundae today... on saturday???

enough, i said...

Sewing a Rainbow...

rainbows are promises...
remember noah's ark.
i made a promise to a grandma...
this is what i came up with.

"Alicia"

"Mia"

"Leah"

grandma and i
can't wait to see if
all of her girls
approve of these three..

but i felt there had to be a mite more..
the presents just weren't complete
so soon...
i'll show you what fun i had
when something else arrived in the mail.

p.s.  these maids have a brother,
just a small tyke
who may want to join in with
the kitchen fun..so

"tai"

this is for him.

do something today...
just for fun.
