xox from Mum...

hi!

when most school leavers
are going to 'schoolie's week' down at the coast,
my friend's daughter has gone to thailand
to help at 'destiny rescue'.
{a halfway house/charity that gives young women a chance at another life style
after they have been sold or enslaved, against their will, into a life of prostitution.}

she has gone armed with small gifts
&
her guitar.
her aim is just to encourage them in their new journey
and to make some new friends.

her mum is a legend.
as well as making and selling
hundreds of jars of homemade jam,
lemon and passionfruit butter
for her daughter's trip

she is renovating her bedroom
while she's away.

the windows have all been reputtied
and the walls undercoated.

a couple of friends and i went around there this morning
and my job was to sand down the furniture
ready for painting...white.

there will be white walls
except for one...

this fabric
will be made into cushions for her bed...

i hope it will be the best surprise for her!

yesterday,
was mary's funeral...
a young woman, a friends daughter,
who died going to work a week and a half ago.

rest in peace, mary.

she had a smile as wide as the sky,
an infectious laugh
&
was a loyal mate
with a passion for life & love.

tomorrow...
a bag to make...two cushions & an apron.
well, that's the plan.

what have you got planned for the weekend?
whatever it is..
do it with all your heart...

The Grey Room...Painted!

how are you all?
this afternoon the sky outside looks
as grey as the room
we've mr w and mr m have been painting!

remember the room
before?...

all scraped back!

mr w applying the undercoat...
we wanted to keep the grey as light as possible,
no existing colour bleeding through.

on with the grey...complex grey..half strength
{by berger}

complex grey is a grey which like its name states..
has many colours in it,
not just a whitened black!

two coats later...

mr w has moved in
and finally this morning
i took these pictures...
and he brought up his favourite bed lamp upstairs
for the occasion
{and made the bed for me!}

it is slowly being organised...
but then again rome wasn't built in a day.

kara loves the bedroom too!
by half past eight every night she's snoozing in it...

here..
she is wondering why
we wouldn't let her off the bed...
{'cos we wanted to take her picture}

she was happily sitting there...
and before we could take her pic
she leapt off onto the floor.
she was ordered back on the bed
but it just confused her!
she is eager to please though...he!he!

well i won't win 'the decorator of the month' award
with these pics
but what do you expect
from a boys' room in occupation...
i should have taken photos when it was first set up!
but...
i didn't even think about it then.

i hope you're having a grey't day...
well, sunnier actually!

ps...i have sewn another apron..but will show you on monday...hopefully!...think meadowsweet!!

Just in Time for Christmas...

good morning!
grey skies and stormy weather
are my friends today...
after wilting in the heat yesterday
i am reviving with each raindrop and cool breeze.

as you know mr t and sharrie
went off on their merry way
to bendigo
{where mr t has just got work as a chef in a hotel...yay!!!}

since they left
mr m has been busy...
scraping away the paint
from the walls of the bedroom...

there has been quite a few coats
given to this old room over the years!

it's a funny old room
with odd angles
no windows
and two doors...
the ones above open out to the east
where there is a little sleepout type of area
banked with windows...
and the other door,
is a regular door opposite this one
leading into the kitchen/dining room space!

mr m has been sleeping in the front room..
that really used to be a front verandah,
but was closed in a long time ago.

this will be his new room...
painted this colour

it's called complex grey
by dulux
we'll get it in the silk...a smooth matt finish.

mr m and mr p go and pick up miss b's stuff from brisbane
this weekend {no grey skies allowed}.
she finishes work today and is off to canada on boxing day!

then mr m will have a lovely big bed
to stretch his frame on...

and i will have my front room back to normal...
or even better!
{by Christmas...so we can put the Christmas tree up...just in time!}

it won't be this one...
this is from 'chatz', the cafe at our church
{with permission!}

but i couldn't resist a little Christmas in this post!

...and here's just a little more!

enjoy your friday
and get into the spirit of Christmas this weekend!
