Lost Dog Finds Good Home...

Once upon a time...
(a few weeks ago)
i found this georgeous fellow

going very cheaply...
sitting in a basket,
at the home for lost dogs and other homeless sweethearts.
(st vinnies)
i paid for him and took him home,
not knowing where i would keep him
at the time.

some time went past,
until my gaze alit on an old cane chair
in desperate need of new attire.
i sewed a little cover for her seat.
she looked much better sitting there
but something was missing
to make her complete.

a few days later...
the old dog leapt sprightly to his feet
and landed neatly on the seat.

i was delighted to find him a home,
then remembered a bunch of
lovely fresh daisies
(that Miss B had discarded)
and thought they may
find that chair comfortable too.

the dog, the chair and the daisies
all live in my sunny front room (that
used to be a porch) and cheerily
greet the visitors who come
knocking at my door.

'til tomorrow...

Cool Blues on a Friday....

friday sings its own song,
a song of anticipation...
a weekend is at hand.
a change of pace...
winding down the week day activities...
gathering momentum for other agendas.

just feel like chilling out
this friday.

my mood matches the cool blues
of these cushions

when Miss B returned the sewing machine,
she gave me a large cardboard box,
full of material, unfinished projects and
one and a half curtains.
(which didn't fit any of our windows)

so i made these from the curtains...
the cording made me nervous,
but...
it was surprisingly easy doing it with a zipper foot.

3 buttons for practicality.
these are the other 2 cushions covered with
the st vinnies sheeting i mentioned before.

this little bonsai pot
is on my outside table...
under the passionfruit vine.

have a cool blue friday too...
and a sunny yellow weekend.

Singing a Spring Song....

i bought these glads at the fruit & veg market last saturday.
they've slowly been opening up all week.
i just had to take their picture this morning
'cos they looked a treat.

i am gathering together a little collection
of clear cut glass with diamond shapes that
catch the light and capture my dreams.

i have a friend who makes soy candles
and i am thinking of filling these pretties with moccacino or rose.
soy candlewax does not stick to tablecloths
and will not leave hard residues inside
my sparkling friends.

i will let you know how i go with these.

enjoy today while there is some of it left to enjoy....

Miss B's Baby Quilt

when Miss B was looking after my machine,
she made this baby quilt for a girl.
there wasn't really a girl in mind so
i am instructed to gift it to the first baby girl
that we need a gift for... i think she will be a blessed baby indeed.

please excuse the crusty old tyre at the bottom of the picture.
i'll make sure no other such items sneak into my photos
just wanting to steal the limelight!

here's another picture, note that it is closer up thus
avoiding said crusty limelight stealing tyre.

today is the first day of spring
and there is something delicious about
blue skies, clean linens, pinks, greens, little birdies,
gingham, dots and stripes in fresh colours
that bring a smile to my heart.

i hope you saw something today
that made your heart smile...
