Grateful for Trees!

good morning
on a slightly misty but sunny,
 queensland
sunday morning!

i took this picture
only a few minutes ago...
the sun caught this poinciana tree.

i love the way it's branches spread
out across the whole front yard of this house...
it's roots encompass the plants in their pots.

it is strong, healthy and green.

my mango tree.

this morning...
i love that it is old
and makes its own space
where it stands.

"he shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither,
and whatever he does shall prosper"
psalm 1: 3

that is God's will for us!

if i'm not too late to the party...
i'm joining in with "maxabella"...

hoping you have a special sunday!

Counting Back Again...

hi..it's friday afternoon again,
a whole weekend before us
to fill with a little housework and a lot of fun!

all week i have posted about all kinds of cushion goodness..
but today i am back counting down for the kids at nanango primary school.

the prep kids and kinder kids need their cushions
so here are no's 19 & 18...

this was the rest of the fabric
sent to me from vanessa @ the clip cafe or flower photography fame!

it was a lovely length of fabric to work with
and i know the kids will love it too.

i have just been over to dorien's blog...just do
she has a brilliant youtube video
about a yarn bombing episode in her town of alkmaar in holland...
on a bridge.
if you have time it's well worth a look,
you'll love it!

...and say hello to dorien while you're at it...

i'm proclaiming today as 'friendly friday'
'cos i think i've spent the whole day chatting over cups of coffee..hehe

hoping you're having a 'friendly friday' too!

A New Venture!

hi there...

i have decided to take the plunge
&
open a "naturally Carol" site on madeit.

i haven't quite yet
as i don't have any cards or a little logo thingo
to put up on the banner...

but

i have made a couple of cushions to sell..

&
the bonus is
that if nobody wants them
i
get to keep them!

they are quite large...
50 cm or 20 inch inserts
so
are huggable..a good armful!

why?..curiousity = intelligence

these are made out of an 'american jane' jelly roll
and some yardage and plain cottons...

the 'red' one

i loved putting these strips of fabric together...
the colours are beautiful
&
would look great in a kid's room or nursery.

if = the possibility of anything!
or
everything!

blue buttons...

i've got five more to complete.

i hope you like them
or
that someone will..lol!

i'm linking in with 'kootoyoo'...
her last linky before the holidays today!

Today..I'm for Cats!

good afternoon!

after having a little rave..
{ok..a full post rave!}
about my funny georgeous max,
i had no space to tell you about the cats.

my friend debbie
{who sent me the delicious cherry cushion
that ended up very much cherished by an elderly lady in kandanga!}
answered my feeble plea for help
regarding cushion covers for nanango school...

she sent me these lovely panels to make up,
which i duly did...

the fabric was quite fine
so i lined them with calico to give them a bit of body
and machine quilted along the straight lines
as well as one of the cats on each cushion.

the back...is black

very black!
with black buttons that you really can't see in this pic...
you'll have to see by faith!

the backs were made from black garberdine
courtesy of my son..mr p!

he gave me some money a couple of years ago
and asked me to buy him some black fabric.
it was to upholster the bases of his car seats...
well eventually i think he bought brand new seats for his car!
so mum ended up with the fabric
and finally it's being put to good use..lol

personally..i think
they are too fancy for kids to put on the floor of a classroom
so if debbie is alright with the idea
i will ask jenny to give them to a cat lover
who has been flood affected in theodore.

fortunately there are a couple of kid's covers coming soon
so we'll make our quota shortly!

what do you think deb?
is it ok with you?

thank you so much for sending the fabric panels!

well..i have covered cats and dogs now...
i have passed on all your birthday wishes to max
and all those compliments have gone straight to his head...
he's the proudest dog in the house now.

never mind
ellie and kara will soon have him back to normal in a jiffy!

have a wonderful wednesday
say 'hi' to your pet for me!
