Bright 'n' Stripey!

afternoon all!

i've just been out to lunch

taking this yellow one with me

as a gift to my friend maree

to celebrate her birthday!

she is made out of my last bit of yellow lecien fabric

so i filled in the middle with spots to stretch it further...

maree said she is going to keep it in her car

so her kids don't abscond with it...lol!

yellow polka dots and pre-loved buttons...

the colour of daffodils...mmm!

at the cafe

kim who works for habitat for humanity,

came up to me.

she said..the ladies who received the handmade cushions

that teje and debbie made

were absolutely blown away with the thought,

that someone

would make a cushion for them!

well done both of you...you're gems!

well i'm still counting down with the primary school cushions..

another one for the prep kids...number 24!

i am caretaker of said hat..while she is in canada...haha!

{i did actually wear it out to a lunch once too!}

An Abundance!

evening all!

i have been so blessed by people helping me with the cushions

&

this week was no exception...

as well as caroline promising more to come,

vanessa from 'flower photography' sent me this amazing parcel this week...

cushion inserts, fat quarters, yardage ..even the ribbon will be used!

buttons and candles for me...thank you vanessa..so kind ~

and a tin for little cards and a soap for me too!

whose spoiled ?

..i am!!

&

guess what..she didn't know..but

with all the kid's cushions to be made for the school

i couldn't have asked for more suitable fabrics..amazing!!

tomorrow i'm going to a 60th birthday..

so i made these for my friend,

i thought i'd show you and you can let me know if you think they'll be suitable.

they are a neutral colour..'cos i'm not sure what colour her lounge room is.

i embroidered one little mushroom tag...

and i was having fun

so i embroidered another little mushroom too!

The Flip Side...

i hope you're all having a lovely time

this afternoon...browsing away and posting to your heart's content!

i'm going to show you the other side to caroline's personality...

yesterday we got to see 'sweet caroline'...

pink and pretty..as one comment said..the cushion was dainty.

i thought that the word 'dainty', was just the right one.

today

carolines cushions are bold and arty...

beautiful in a different way.

lovely large floral prints are sewn in a patch on the front of each cushion...

the colours are bold and deep,

the texture of the fabric is like raw linen.

My Brother's Birthday!

good morning...

i've already rung my brother this morning

and sung 'happy birthday' over the phone to him...

that's getting to be a bit of a tradition among

me, my brother and my sister!

as you know

i was going to make him a cushion...

well i did...

and he liked it!

made in the typically 'naturally carol' way...

 

i found some little matching 'vintage' buttons in my button tin....

he has attended many 'landmark' courses

and could see the meaning of my embroidered 'if' tag...

just to remind him of all the available 'possibilities'

of this life

when 'if' catches his eye...

he can rest his head on his soft squishy cushion..

close his eyes...

and dream of impossibilities..becoming possibilities in his life!

the brown adds a little earthiness to the buttoned back.

if you're celebrating a 'march' birthday...

you are joining a long list of friends & family members...

including mr m on the 3rd

mrs i..my friend..on the 5th

miss b on the 11th

and my mum on the 22nd

and of course mr b today...

Friday Freedom...Finally!

hi!

...finally.

it feels like i have been submerged for a week.

last saturday i began to collate some survey figures

and late yesterday afternoon after spending days typing

and 75 pages having been printed...

i've emerged.

i delivered the goods this morning

and walked out relieved!

it's my brother's birthday next week...

but he's coming up from brisbane

tomorrow to spend the day with us.

he loves caravanning,

and says caravan parks are the best places to socialise ever,

 so...

i found this great fabric online

and it came last week...

check out the little orange kombie's...

those retro silver caravans....

and tiny green canvas tents...

so cool!

no prizes for guessing what this sister is making!

thought a cushion would look great in his van...

or on his bed.

i made a couple of local phone calls today

regarding distributing our cushions

and have met some lovely people

and there are some ideas in the pipeline!

have a great weekend...

camping anyone?

or caravanning?

...maybe some sewing!

Today is a Special Day!

'cos today is my dad's 80th birthday...

hi dad!

i know you're busy!

i just want a few minutes of your time today...

to wish you a very happy birthday...

and a wonderful year ahead !

you deserve the best !

a little while ago...

i made something for you,

handmade especially for you!

i sent it off to new zealand early

so the big old aussie moths

wouldn't get stuck into it over summer!

{the stamps weren't french!}

mum has probably given it to you by now....

just thought...

you can use it over your knees when writing those radio articles in winter...

or take it on picnics...

or put it in the spare room!

anyway

i hope you enjoy everything

that today will bring!
