Man Beanie!

hi!

after the weekend of great excitement
when 'baby bean' a.k.a kai was finally born,
it has been a week of busy-ness here.

nothing spectacular, different or fabulous...
just plain old busy.

my blog has almost become a stranger
&
i've neglected almost everybody i know.
i apologise.

i also thank you for all of your kind wishes and
beautiful sentiment for our littlest family member.
we appreciate every gorgeous comment.

i did finish a 'man beanie' though
and it has met with the approval of mr t
who has already stretched it onto his head
where it has a semi permanent address already!

the colours just happened to coordinate
with all this spectacular leafy glory beautifully!
{..or maybe i just have orange and black on my mind}

up here in queensland
we've been having glorious winter weather
and it's been a long slow change in colour for the deciduous trees here.

outside my bedroom window this morning
the crepe myrtle was at it's best...
showing off on this cool sunny winter day!

take care...

The Fern Grows!

hi there...

i've turned the christmas tree lights on this morning
for a bit of sparkle arkle
'cos it's kinda dark inside
with all the rain and gloomy weather outside.

i took this pic
to show you how much those little ferny fronds
have grown in a couple of weeks...

this fern is amazing.
it grows on the stump of an old mango tree
that we had to cut down to make way for a driveway
just after we moved into this house.

on one side of the stump is the fern
and on the other side is a flourishing staghorn..
they both just live off the decaying stump
which is sitting underneath the poinciana tree in the front yard.

this is what the fern looked like
just a few weeks prior to these new photos...

with the winter
and probably a lack of water
they had died right down
and in the pic above had just begun to sprout new growth.
those young fronds are just unfurling.

you can even see a little of the staghorn in amongst them.

i was only thinking this morning
that nature is just full of the miraculous...
and i think seeds are one of them.

what do you consider
as a miracle of nature?

mr t is off to get mr m from brisbane,
he's coming home for a while...
kara is outside at the moment,
unaware of the surprise that awaits her doggy psyche.
she'll be wagging her tail with delight
later today.

by the way...
now we are having problems
with the internet connection
and can't seem to access certain blogsites...

maybe it's the weather???

hopefully it will right itself.

i've got a little christmas crafting to share tomorrow,
nothing very earth shaking
but hopefully i can access my editing stuff
and trim a few dead corners off the photos!

another cosy day...
perfect for a bit of sewing!
i hope your day is perfect for doing what you want to too.

Leaves...

hi and good afternoon..
friday
..time to breathe!

it's been a full week
~ not that i'm complaining,
i've had a great time...
and received some lovely packages.

this morning just after i had visited teje on her blog..
'nero's post and patch'..
the postie delivered three wonderful cushion covers
and
... a beautiful felted wool hairband for me!

but
you'll have to wait 'til monday to see those..haha!

as soon as i got them i raced off to lincraft
to get the inserts for them...
and the other one i made yesterday
out of more of the fabric that nancy sent earlier in the week.

the front of 'spring leaves'...

personal touches...

ha!ha!...it looks as though it has 'a little bottom' in it...
the insert are shaped a bit weirdly at first sometimes!

i just love leaves...

just like these in shadows!

cheers! to two stars this week...
nancy and teje,
many thanks!

have a wonderful weekend

p.s...teje i haven't forgotten your comment about seeing my work corner...
