Froggy Green!

hi there!

the big wet...
...is not over yet!

this little guy
came to say hello the other day.
mr t snapped him
as he climbed up the drain pipe outside.

i can hardly blame him for wanting to get out of the rain
for just a little while at least!

his mates are singing nightly in the gully,
making babies by the thousand, i suspect.
tiny froggies hiphop across carparks and gardens
smaller than crickets, they are.

the rain finally ceased today for a spell,
but there's more due tonight
&
we're in for another wet weekend.

every day for the last two weeks has been a day out somewhere...
i'm looking forward to some cosy days in.
summer is officially over...
welcome to autumn
with her crispy mornings and pretty leaves.

enjoy your weekend...

This Thursday...

it's just started to rain.

i love...

the sight of flowing rainwater...

haha! that downpipes a joke,
around here it flows through the holes in the guttering,
probably inside the pipe it's bone dry!

i love...
the sound of rain on the tin roof
&
of the trickling water as it runs in rivulets from that holey guttering
&
plops onto the ground below.

i love...
the cooling touch of the fine rainspray
swept in by the wind
across from the jacaranda trees
and in through the kitchen window.

i'm anticipating...
the garden filled with raindiamonds
dripping from the trees
shining in the rainclear air!

i can almost hear
the earth whispering 'thank you'
as it sponges up every last drop.

rain or shine
i hope your day is fine...

Messing with Lyrics!

good afternoon!

when i'm sitting at the sewing machine,
piecing together some little project,
often a phrase will stick in my mind.

sometimes it's a person i'm thinking of...
the recipient usually of my messing around,
but on this day it was
random lyrics from 'the sound of music'...
one of my all time favourite musicals.
when i saw it for the first time
i fully aspired to be julie andrews when i grew up...hehe...
apart from singing a few tunes i'm nothing like her!

so...guess what was going through my head this time...

ray! a drop of golden sun....

remember?
doh a deer, a female deer...ray, a drop of golden sun
me, a name i call myself...far, a long long way to run!

another guess?

what about this one?
not as obvious i think....

well..
this one's a bit convoluted..hehe!

"raindrops on roses"

as in
raindrops on roses & whiskers on kittens
bright copper kettles & warm woollen mittens....

these are a few of my favourite things!

the convolution?
the beads made me think of raindrops...and it was raining as i sewed...
the pink..made me think of roses,
as anyone would think then...raindrops on roses! haha

though of course you may be thinking something completely different by now...
like
"daisy, daisy, tell me your answer do, i'm half crazy all for the love of you"!

i couldn't blame you!

what are you up to this wednesday?

I'm Grateful For..Dry Toes..So Far!

it's been raining...
a lot!

the river's up
and creeping closer...

the road's closed but good for a paddle!

closed for business...methinks!

no dogs allowed here!

we're not going home from the shops that way!

coming out for a picnic?

would you buy this block of land?
its got waterviews going in its favour!

the flooding river...still raining lightly!

looking south across the river...

southbound traffic has come to a standstill...the highway is flooded!

trucks are pulling over to the side...stopped.
shops are shutting up early...
some are removing merchandise and taking it to higher ground.

but...

for george and maud...
life goes on as usual!

we'd be grateful this weekend...
if the river stopped rising right now!

Rainy Days and Mondays...

good afternoon...
you are probably thinking..what is it
with this girl and the weather?

if you were...today it's not re: weather at all!
well, not the real stuff...just pretend!!

i think all that rain we've been having may have had an effect though,
i made this apron out of 'rainy days and mondays' fabric...

pale pink ric rac, selvedge and one red button...

a little pink 'if' tag,
'cos the possibilities of our lives are endless...

did you check out the tiny shoes on the barbie ornament..
miss b gave it to me last night!

many thanks to miss woody the chair model...again!
...for her statuesque deportment.

this will be the last creative post before Christmas.
i have to pack the sewing machine away...
clear my little 'sewing' table off
to perform other duties...like being laden with Christmas goodness,
food and sparkle and stuff!!

i wonder if someone will make me one of these?

these are at lisbeth's house!

lisbeth's blog lives here ...clever lady!!

i wish i did live in one of these at the moment...
my house is crammed with miss b's belongings
that she and mr m and mr p drove up from brisbane yesterday.

they are piled in my front room...
spreading from there to the lounge..
and the dining room table...etc...and ..etc!!

this week will involve
lots of trips to 'vinnies' { a local 'op' shop}
and some 'private' giveaways
and lots and lots of sorting...i'm tired just thinking about it!
{on the other hand...i might think of it as a treasure hunt...there could be endless goodies
...just like Christmas!!}

be glad this monday...for all that you've got...even if it's not a lot
let love, joy and peace be your portion!

Grateful for Afternoon Storms!

hi!
weatherwise we're in a sunshine and storm cycle at the moment.

everyday
early morning is cool, sunshiney and delightful,
mid morning, i can cope but
humidity is building slowly,
the heat gradually becomes oppresive...
by mid afternoon
i've wilted, past my best by a long shot
a bit snippy with all and sundry...
just want to get my gear off...lol
{if you knew me...you'd laugh too!}
and dive into a bucket of ice!!

then as if on cue
fluffy white clouds morph into bigger grey ones
the skies darken
the wind chimes in with a verse or two

lightening flashes randomly
and the earth cools under big drops of reviving rain!

i am soooooo grateful for the rain,
for afternoon storms...
i sing my praises!!!!

One Hour of Sunshine...

yesterday
there were storms all day...

blowing all the new jacaranda flowers off the trees.

the rain made this hippeastrum even more beautiful...

but it was a very dull day to take photos of my sewing.

this morning,
i got up at six,
and there was one hour of sunshine!

i grabbed my camera
despite
having birdsnest hair and a nightie on...
{thank goodness i wasn't in the shots...hehehe}

this is a library bag
to top up the box i put together last friday.

you may remember bits of these fabrics from other projects.
these are the last pieces of some of them.
i couldn't resist the scottie dog button i found in the button tin,
he' off on his own adventure now!

tuesday is just the day for an adventure...
hoping yours is wonderful.
