How does your garden grow?

good morning!

when i last wrote,
i lay down my pen...so to speak...
&
took a rest.

it was like at the end of all those 500 posts
i'd finished
&
really didn't know whether i'd take it up again.

but this morning
after a dry spell
i leapt out of bed and there had been a storm in the night.
the world was new again.
i had a desire to write again as well...
to share something fresh.

i don't know quite where i'm heading
with all this
but as with life itself...
it'll just unfold
&
a story will be told!

oh what a beautiful morning...
oh what a beautiful day....

doris day here is warbling away!

have a great day...

Post No. 500!

hi!

i was just about to write 'good morning'
but the morning has escaped already...
&
it's already past noon!

this is my 500th post.
they've been written over nearly 3 years.
my 1st was in august 2010.
it was written with as much angst
as anticipation.
it was a scary thought
that anyone but family might read my writing
&
i didn't know what family may think either!

now
we are old friends, my blog and i
&
all the people i've met and spoken to.
i look forward to spending time here...
some days more time than others.

my creative mojo has waned
but that's just part of life.
i've crocheted, sewn and knitted here
&
you've seen it all.
today i'm excited about my daughter's
garden transformations.
i'm her assistant
&
todays task as been to water all her babies
as they sun themselves under our bright blue queensland sky.

i do have a tiny jumper to finish knitting
&
with life a little less chaotic
maybe my creative mojo has just temporarily
ducked out for a cuppa...
here's hopin' anyway!

Dragging My Feet...

hi there!

i have noticed everybody getting their act together
regarding the big changeover from google reader
to other circles and links
but i'm dragging my feet.

it's not that i don't love you
and don't want to belong
but
i have issues.

i have a problem
handing over more of my personal information...
address,
working status,
even my name
to another set of people who i don't know.

i don't do facebook or twitter
for the same reason...
and then there's the information or photos
i may post there...
what could they be used for or by in the future.

i am cautious...perhaps overly...
but i'm not committing 'til i see how this all plays out.
so if you see someone
behind the crowd...
just observing my friends racing ahead...
it's probably me.

....and by the way

i'm knitting a little jumper for kai,
'cos in another couple of months
the weather will be a bit cooler
and he just may need it.

the back's done...the front is on it's way...

waving to you from here
behind the crowd...

Appreciated...

hi!

thank you jill!

&

thank you catherine!

after blogger refusing me the option
of accessing photos on my computer
{uploaded from my camera}
i was completely frustrated and had no idea what to do about it.

i was wondering whether i had uploaded too many photos
but that wasn't the case
as my sister jill had way under the limit
and had the same problem.

i told jill about the hint catherine had left me after the last post.
she said to use html.

jill had a fiddle with blogger while i went and ate some dinner.
she phoned me to say...
go into html..
...you can only upload pics this way
if you have some script on the new post already...
then take the option there to upload photos
and it will offer what 'compose', 'insert image' 'browse'
used to offer.

when you've finished uploading the image,
it seems you can go back to compose
and write the rest of the post without a problem.

so now
you get to see the lovely and unusual hibiscus flowers
that are nodding at me
from outside my bedroom window!

it seems that although only 'small', 'medium' or 'large'
size images are offered on html
that when you revert to 'compose'
you can click on the image again and normally change the image size again
if preferred.

i don't know why blogger is acting like this
and removing options...
but obviously jill and catherine are smarter!

yay!
have a great day!

Pruning!

hi there...
it's a windy monday morning here,
just fine for blowing away the cobwebs
and blowing in {to my house} all those tiny pesky jacaranda leaves.

you would be surprised to learn
that these are the remains of last seasons leaves on the jacaranda trees
out the front.
there are rusty coloured leaves all over the paths beneath
and the pesky little things
fly in the windows and are carried inside on the soles of our shoes.
it looks more like autumn than the beginning of spring.

it's hard to believe that in just a few weeks
these trees will be covered in purple blossoms...
oozing with stickiness falling on my car
and covering the ground like a royal carpet.

these sweet delights never cease to surprise me...

i have recorded these naturalised freesias flowering
for three seasons now
and this year there are even patches of them several meters away from the 'mother bunch'...
how did they get there?
it's a mystery to me..i didn't plant more bulbs!

but they reminded me that it was just about this time of year
that i first started 'naturally Carol'...two years ago.

this took me to my list of followers
and led me on to some long overdue  housekeeping pruning.
i realised that some of the blogs i've followed
were extinct.
people move on.
things happen beyond their control.
other ventures are started.
babies are born who need time and care and a blog is neglected, forgotten even.

so i took some time to say goodbye
to those that hadn't been updated for more than about eight months or longer...
showing no signs of life,
either slumbering or departed.

it was quite a mammoth effort,
culling out about twenty percent..can you believe it..of dead wood.
but now i feel like a house swept clean,
although there are a couple of treasures i just had to keep
and not give up on...
just in case
one day my blogging friends may decide to return
and keep me company here once more.

have you got long since departed sites
just hanging around,
or friends who have left that you just hang on to..
hoping?

or do you just leave everything there
not touching a thing?

how many people can you follow anyway?

...crepe myrtle branches.
i think 'crepe myrtle' would have to be one of my favourite plant names...
just as well i never had more than one daughter
i may have called her 'crepe myrtle'...hehe.
miss b..that was a close escape!

i finished my sewing my market bag late on saturday afternoon.
i'll show it to you later this week.

take care...
with your prunings & plantings
