he rang this morning to say he's made it through the operation,

a bit sore but will be fine to come home.

 

so these will have to do 'til later...

 

remember these from taiwan?

 

 

 

in the walkway to the whisky factory...

 

 

so perfect!

 

a big thank you for all of you who have sent your best wishes

for a speedy recovery for mr. w.

 

you are probably wondering why i haven't seen him already,

being my husband and all...

he works up north and

booked the operation there

'cos in our town it would have been a much longer wait

with doctors who aren't available down here.

 

mr p will go up by train this afternoon

&

fetch him

driving him back in his ute.

 

then we will have him here for a couple of weeks

while recovery happens

and he will work from home

so we are not fully poverty stricken..hehe!

 

unusual i grant you...

but

it'll be ok.

 

is your family unusual in any way?

i think most of us are in some way!

Taiwanese Mountain Village...

good evening...

mr w is in hospital

his belly button hernia needed fixing...

we're still waiting,

it's ok,

i'm sure he'll be fine...

just makes the day a bit slow.

 

so while we're waiting

i'll show you some more of

taiwan.

 

on the way through

i noticed women washing at this place...

 

 

 

it was a lovely sunny day,

but we were on our way to somewhere else

so we couldn't stop to have a proper look.

 

but on the way back...

 

 

we got close up.

it was a wet day

which was wonderful

'cos nobody washes here on a rainy day.

 

i was intrigued to find

that the water was flowing swiftly

from up in the mountains

behind the marketplace.

 

aren't those big slabs of stone great

for beating the dirt out of your clothes?

 

we walked up the narrow lane...

 

 

that's little ella in the blue jacket

at a stall with her grandma and me...

 

 

there was plenty to buy and sample

but in the end

we settled for freshly made egg rolls

&

portuguese egg tarts..they were everywhere..

even kfc!

they were always extremely fresh and so scrumptious,

from tiny ones to deep and large.

{as it was mr p's birthday just after we arrived back in oz i did try and make some..but they just weren't the same  :-(   oh well!}

we found the dragons at the gate...

As Dry As Toast!

 

 

hi!

it's a beautiful day,

the sky is smiling blue,

the breeze whispers

&

gently lifts the curtain beside me

&

places it down again.

 

the dogs doze,

birds and bees are busy,

&

fluffy heads on dry grass waves and nods.

 

 

 

it's as dry as toast out there.

no rain for over a month.

the ground is beginning to dust

the grass beginning to brown...

a far cry from the flooding rains

that have been around for the past few years.

 

 

i'm thinking of using the hose this afternoon.

mr w had to find some hose fittings...

why is it that they disappear?

who takes them?

nobody ever knows.

 

 

tuesdays are terrific...

dollar new release movies down the road,

two clicks on my coffee card instead of one!

 

 

hoping tuesday is terrific

Changes...

hello!
{yes, it is me here}

 

it's spring...

it's time for a change.

 

seasons change,

even the seasons in your life.

 

i don't even feel as if i am exactly the same person

who anticipated last summer with a blog that

spoke of beach and sand and waves...

but i don't even know what this season will bring

...it feels fresh though!

 

 

as fresh as these big hearted cabbages

and spring rain.

 

in taiwan i was so impressed by market gardens

that were squeezed into every available place in the city

and in the country...

often we would have piles of crispy, crunchy green leaves

to dip into aromatic broths...

to cook and then to savour..deliciously fresh!

 

on the weekend i went to

a 'for her'...

what's that?

it's a mini conference for women.

this one was on a saturday.

we enjoyed the wisdom of a phsyciatrist

as she explained

some of the workings of the brain and making

new thought pathways,

a journey to overcoming depressing thoughts

and nonproductive habits.

 

after lunches of chicken salad, strawberries & apricot slice

served in aqua paper bags,

we taste tested the delights of annette sym's

book 6...

'too good to be true'.

 

she encouraged us too,

to eat wisely and healthily

and shared her journey

to well being.

 

sunday

was church

and a shared lunch

father's day

mr m gifted a big brekkie,

clean gutters, trimmed trees

and a vaccuumed house to his dad...a fab kid, this one!

mr p and mr t helped as well...they're fab too..

and swept paths and tidied the yard.

 

hoping
