Mopping Up...

and thank you for your kind & supportive comments
on our fire event last sunday.

the shaking has ceased
my equilibrium has returned.
after some thought
my husband seems to think that
due to the temperature readings the firies took...
that the self cleaning mode
has somehow clicked in by itself.
apparently this self cleaning mode
brings the plates on the insides of the oven
up to 800 degrees celsius
where they burn off any food or oil in the oven
and then when the oven is cool
you just sweep up the ashes.
i think
that because there had been a more substantial spill
on the floor of the oven,
that it caused flames to ignite with that extreme temperature.
well there is nothing but a little ash now
on the bottom of the oven.
we still need to have an electrician out to have a look
and maybe an insurance assessor.
....but the dogs have had a few delicious dinners
off the leg of lamb now...
and today kara finished off the last bone...
she's lying down
with a very rounded tummy
here now...hehe!
 now back to knitting,
preparing bible studies,
organising myself for mainly music
other normal weekly events...
i hope your week is rolling along smoothly!

  1. Glad the shaking has stopped and your equilibrium has returned. Still, an awful experience to have. At least the dogs benefited though, she does indeed look quite content :-)
    Have a happy day,

  2. Glad you're feeling better about it. The dogs must be very pleased about the arrangement though ! xo

  3. So glad all is ok ...what a shock it must have been...lets hope for a new oven for you and no more exciting times in the kitchen...xxx

  4. Goodness Carol, I missed your last post so I missed all the 'fun'! I'm not surprised you were shaking ... sounds like there was a good outcome from the dogs point of view though!

Here's wishing a very quite and uneventful May to compensate for your recent fright :)

  5. Oh, so sorry to here about the fire. How horrible! Glad you are all okay! Take care! xo Heather

  6. I've had the house fill with smoke when my oven was self cleaning before...but I still use it since I hate cleaning the oven the old fashioned way. :)

  7. Oh dear... you must have had quite the scare! I'll make sure to watch for the spills in my oven from now on. Glad to hear the shakings have stopped.

PS: I'm hosting a Suigo hair pack giveaway; hope you enter: http://www.underlockandkeyblog.com/2013/05/suigo-hair-review-and-giveaway.html

  8. I'm glad to hear all is calm there now and you have done the mopping up. Wishing you a happy and relaxing weekend, Carol.

  9. I hope that you have a nice new oven now in the old ovens place and can now have that yummy roast lamb for dinner. x
