Grateful for..the Birth of an Idea!

have you ever woken up in the morning...
just a little sad and a bit aimless.

looking outside and seeing a dull grey day...
your heart just sinking.

going back to bed just wishing the day
would change.

i did.

this morning.

needing a few things from the shops..{again!}
i went out
had some of this kinda stuff...

except it was 'cappucino-fied'!

a bite to eat...

except it was banana bread...
these are the ones i brought home for mr t and sharrie!

i read the paper for a while
sitting in the cafe
what can i do next.

i need a little project
to think about
and get myself out of myself
so i don't just dwell on things
make myself sadder.

my mind

switched from 'off'

to 'on'

i thought of someone
to make

one of these for

out of

i'm grateful
that thinking about
what i can do for someone else
can take my  mind off myself
give today
even joy!

yesterday i finished this square cushion
to go with the rectangles...

for my 'shop'...
i'm going to do a little square 'citrus' one as well,
just to finish the set.

i'm joining with 'maxabella' today
i need to read some more 'grateful' posts...obviously!!!

i hope you find purpose & joy in your weekend...

naturally Carol xox

ps...don't get worried about me, i am usually quite a happy person...i am just between stuff at the moment..i've nearly filled my little 'madeit shop' and need some other bigger project ..until then i am practising patience..sometimes not very well!

  1. So very thoughtful of you. I can't imagine you having down time you are always making something. Charmaine
ps thanks for the little snippet about doors the other day, it was a real treat to read that comment.

  2. Its it great how you can change your outlook by thinking of others!! Nicely done Ms Carol :)

  3. you are so like me!! love to keep busy (keepcarolbusy???)
and, coffee has some pretty magical qualities doesn't it? Think I'll go and grab one now...mmmm
have a great (and busy) weekend!

  4. I love this post! Such a nice combo of pictures and words. And I'm impressed that you can recognise what you can do to change your mindset. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

  5. Glad you found a purpose for the day, Carol. A surefire way to put the blues on hold. x

  6. I know exactly what you mean, Carol ... some days just don't seem to be going anywhere. I had lots of those in Canada which is why I started sewing and took up some voluntary work. Maybe you could learn a new craft to give you something new to focus on? That's why I started to crochet last year - I'm still not very good at it, but it kept me occupied and my mind alert!

  7. Doing something nice for others is always a great way to cheer oneself up methinks :]

  8. You are so talented Carol, and such a kind hearted person! I understand how a little idea can spark a whole new way of thinking! I love to do things for others too, and it makes me so happy! That is something to be grateful for! I bet the friend who gets that apron will be very grateful too! Happy weekend dear! X

  9. Purpose and joy are so important for all of us. Thank you so much for pointing it out again. I think we all need a reminder every once in a while.

  10. Glad you were able to think of others to give yourself inspiration! You're such a sweet and generous person. Just LOVE the square cushion with the rectangle! Beautiful work, as always. =)

  11. I love those light bulb moments, don't you?! A sense of purpose is so important to move us through the days - and creative purpose is never far away if you only look, I always think! I'm glad you thought of a good idea, and lovely that you are thining of someone else too. Look forward to seeing the result. The cushions look lovely. Hope you're having a happy weekend. Helen x

  12. So cute!

On another note, will you vote for my blog? It only takes a second. Thanks, Traci
